The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) are the major U.S. federal agencies with regulatory authority over oncology-related research. Below are links to the online resources of those agencies.
FDA Oncology Tools contains a variety of information related to cancer and approved cancer drug therapies.
FDA's Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee provides FDA with independent opinions and recommendations from outside experts on applications to market new drugs and on FDA policies.
NCI's Website provides information on cancer topics, NCI-funded research and programs, cancer statistics, funding opportunities, and news.
NCI's Board of Scientific Advisors advises the NCI Director and Deputy Director for Extramural Science and the Director of each NCI Division on a wide variety of matters concerning scientific program policy, and progress and future direction of extramural research programs of each of the Divisions. This includes the evaluation of NCI-awarded grants, cooperative agreements and contracts, and concept review of those activities which it considers meritorious and consistent with the Institute's programs. The advisory role of the Board is scientific and does not include deliberation on matters of public policy.
NCI Director's Consumers Liaison Group advises, assists, consults with, and makes recommendations to the NCI Director from the perspective and viewpoint of cancer consumer advocates on a wide variety of issues, programs and research priorities.
