Cancer Prevention

The Cancer Prevention Committee (CaPC) leads the Society’s cancer prevention activities and oversees the implementation of the cancer prevention components of the mission statement and the ASCO Strategic Plan. It assesses Society activities in cancer prevention, including cancer education, training, publications, and communication, and works to enhance the quality and quantity of cancer prevention material in each program. The committee represents the cancer prevention interests of ASCO members to the larger oncology community.

The CaPC includes three subcommittees: Reimbursement, which focuses on appropriate physician reimbursement for preventive services; Tobacco, which recommends tobacco control activities to the committee; and Cancer Genetics, which informs Society efforts in clinical cancer genetics by assessing member attitudes and activities in this field.
