CAC Network Meeting

Each year, ASCO hosts, along with the American Society of Hematology and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, a meeting of CAC representatives and alternates from oncology, hematology and gynecologic oncology, as well as state oncology/hematology society presidents and members of related committees from the three organizations. This CAC Network Meeting provides the opportunity to meet and discuss CAC-related items with others from around the country, to share local Medicare coverage issues, and to brainstorm solutions.

The 2008 Annual Hematology/Oncology CAC Network Meeting was held September 19-20, 2008, in Vienna, VA. The president of The Center for Studying Health System Change (HSC), Paul Ginsburg, PhD, was the keynote speaker. He provided a global context for the future of Medicare, trends like comparative effectiveness and pay-for-performance, the relationship between Congress and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the status of the Medicare Trust Fund, options for Medicare reform, and the future of physician payment.
